the short version:

Privacy Policy

You give us your name and email, we send you the occasional boating note. That's the whole arrangement.

  • We ask for two things: your first name and your email address. Nothing else is required to join the crew.
  • We don't sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to anyone.
  • One click gets you out. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops the emails straight away.

1What we collect

When you use a signup form on this site, we collect the first name and email address you type in.

We also record how you found the page. If you arrived from a link that carries campaign tags (the utm_ bits in a web address), we can remember the source, medium, campaign, content and term, plus the landing-page path, with your permission. We do not guess a traffic source when campaign tags are missing. When you request the guide, source, medium, campaign and landing-page path may be saved with your subscriber record in Kit. Original attribution is preserved; the latest identified signup campaign can be updated.

Our email platform also logs the date and time of your signup, and the IP address it came from. That log is our proof that you actually asked to hear from us — it matters when a confirmation email is involved.

2What we use it for

  • To confirm the address is really yours before we send anything.
  • To send you occasional boating emails from Gus — new videos, guides, projects, and the odd adventure.
  • To measure in aggregate which pages and campaigns bring people to the site.

We don't use your details for anything beyond these three things, and we don't send them to other businesses for their own marketing.

3Who handles your email

Your name and email are stored and delivered through Kit (kit.com), the email platform we use to send our emails. Kit keeps your details on servers in the United States and processes them on our instructions under a data-processing agreement — they don't use your address for their own advertising.

This site does not set advertising cookies or send campaign information to advertising platforms. If you choose Allow in the campaign notice, we use this browser's local storage to remember campaign information across visits and refreshes. We record your choice, its date and the notice you saw; previous acceptance evidence is kept if you later decline. Choose Decline to stop campaign storage and remove saved campaign details from this browser. Use Privacy choices at the bottom of any page to change your decision. Signup and guide delivery work either way.

4How long we keep it

We keep your name and email for as long as you stay subscribed. When you unsubscribe, we remove your email address from our sending list and delete the rest within 30 days, except for the minimum record our email platform is required to hold as proof you consented.

If you sign up and never confirm your email address, that unconfirmed record is deleted automatically after a short period.

5Your choices and rights

You can, at any time and free of charge:

  • Unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of any email we send.
  • Ask to see what we hold about you, or ask us to correct anything that's wrong.
  • Ask us to delete your details entirely.
  • Withdraw consent — unsubscribing does exactly that.

We'll answer requests like these within 30 days. In the United States these rights come from the state privacy laws that apply where you live — California's CCPA/CPRA is the best known, and most states now have their own. We don't sell your personal information and we don't share it for targeted advertising, so there's nothing for you to opt out of. If you'd rather not go through us, you can raise a concern with the Federal Trade Commission or your state attorney general. If you're in the UK or the EU, you have the equivalent rights under UK GDPR / GDPR and can complain to your own supervisory authority.

6Keeping your details safe

Access to our email platform is limited to Gus and restricted by login, with two-factor authentication switched on. We don't publish your email address anywhere, and we never pass it to third parties for advertising.

7If this policy changes

If we start collecting anything new, or change who we share it with, we'll update this page and change the date below. For anything that meaningfully changes how your details are used, we'll tell you in an email first.

8Get in touch

Questions about your details, or you'd rather we delete them? Email privacy@intoodeep.com and Gus will sort it out personally. You can also reach him on Instagram or YouTube.

That's it. No hidden currents, no small print traps.
